Mental Health and Well being in Pregnancy

The psychological impact of pregnancy is also significant and needs to be concentrated on the detection and treatment of perinatal mental health disorders. While there are some general concerns, such as the stigma attached to mental illness and poor resources for recommendations, midwives can be helpful in this regard. This is critical to provide an environment where the woman feels comfortable discussing her mental health issues and forging alliances with mental health professionals for coordinated care.
