This session focuses on the prevention, detection, and management of perinatal mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and postpartum psychosis. It will highlight the significant implications of maternal mental health regarding pregnancy outcomes, infant development, and family dynamics. The discussion will focus on screening tools, early interventions, and integrated care approaches that combine mental health support with maternal healthcare services. As part of the Public Health and Midwifery World Conference (PHMWC) 2025, this session will also address stigma, accessibility barriers, and innovative programs to strengthen mental health care for mothers during pregnancy and postpartum.
